As part of the Courvoisier presents 'En Avant' by Grok Institute programme, the Grok Digital Art Institute popup is holding a lecture event on future technologies and how they will influence the way in which we live.

For this, the first of the Grok Lectures we're very pleased to present the following line-up who shall be discussing Human Computer Interaction (HCI), each with their own special twist:

--

Dr Stephen Brewster from The University Of Glasgow to present a lecture on 'Head-Up Interaction: Can We Break our Addiction to the Screen and Keyboard'.

Stephen is a leading researcher in the field of multimodal human-computer interaction.

Memo Atken will present a lecture on 'Designing your own Tools' where he will discusses the possibilities of designing and developing technology to create new modes of interaction and content creation. How you can design and build your own toys and instruments, and use these instruments to create visuals and audio in unconventional ways.

Memo is well known within the Art/Interaction scene for his immersive interactive installations, computational audio-visual design and large-scale real-time adaptive experiences.

Tim Cowlishaw from London App and Innovation company Harmonypark will present a lecture on 'Computer-Human Interaction: using statistics to make machines emote'.

Tim is a Ruby on Rails and Math enthusiast who worked on the One And Other project in Trafalgar square with Anthony Gormley and has recently been experimenting with algorithms to interpret emotion from statisitcal data.
